HSSCommons

The Canadian HSS Commons aims to be a comprehensive resource for research, education, and collaboration. Members can share, access, develop, re-purpose, and preserve scholarly data and resources through an online repository containing reasearch papers, CV’s, and other data. The cited mission of the HSS Commons is to connect and support the work of Humanities and Social Sciences researchers across Canada.

The site is a digital repository that includes extensive member profiles, where users can grow their personal repositories, host projects, blog, share contributions, and collaborate with other researchers via a peer-to-peer networking platform.

HSS Commons is built on the HUBzero web framework, which leverages HUBzero’s modular capabilities to create a highly customizable platform. HUBzero is an open-source platform that integrates Joomla and provides a set of tools to foster community collaboration. Joomla, a PHP-based CMS, powers the core content management, while HUBzero and Joomla both use SQL databases for backend storage.

ARCsoft’s Role

The HSS Commons production server is live online; however, updates are ongoing. New features, such as language translations and API functionality, are continuously being added. ARCsoft is responsible for implementation of these new features and works with ETCL to manage their integration. Our team also plays a key role in ensuring that updates and maintenance across all servers are conducted safely and securely.
