The ZooDB project (this is the working title) presents decades of bone count data from zooarchaeological surveys at various sites around British Columbia. The number and species of bones identified at these digs can help discover and illustrate the lives and habits of humans, migratory patterns, and changing topography.

Overview

The ZooDB application is built on Django, a popular Python-based web application framework, with a Postgres backend and intended to be deployed on the STRAP platform. It allows users to query sites for specific animal bones or by area.

How we’re helping

The project has funded two co-op terms, with two individual students each dedicating four months to the development of the application under direction of the team lead. This is our largest, most in-depth project to date and is a significant opportunity for the team and for the students involved.
